Trying to get a project from scratch off the ground can be daunting with a million questions such as; where do I start? How do I get that polished final design? What material would be best and how much will that cost?
Here is a basic step-by-step guide on the process of getting a design project up and running to a finished printed product.
Idea
You have done your research and have built up your idea enough that it is ready to extend into other mediums such as flyers, posters, labels, signs etc. But you have no idea where to start. Not to worry, that is what we are here for. Call us or send us an email with your thoughts on what you would like and we can give you our recommendations and go from there.
Quote
Quoting is a combination cost of each part of the process from design work to chosen material and sizes. Quotes can vary throughout the process depending on changes whether through additions or removals or a change in material.
Design/Artwork
The next stage for your idea is to give it a visual identity. You can find more on the designing process in our blog post ‘Branding + Design’.
Once the visuals, imagery, colours and tone have been created by our in-house designers - or you have sent us your pre-established artwork, it is time to prepare your pieces and get them print ready.
Print Ready
As explained in our ‘Creating Print Ready Artwork’ blog post, getting artwork print-ready all depends on the job, material and print process required.
The artwork is scaled to size and set as the correct colour mode (CMYK for print) in the ideal file format...and not to mention placing accurate cut mark if required.
Or maybe you are getting your artwork screenprinted - this is a whole other process to prepare and expose the artwork to the screens and mix the inks with the Pantone match system to create the perfect chosen colours.
Print-Finishing
Is it ready yet?!? - Almost.
After the printing process is complete, print-finishing is about finalising the project with those last finishing touches. This could include cutting and scoring, assembling and packaging, laminating and so much more.
To add that last piece of detail through print-finishing can elevate a project from looking pretty great to phenomenal.
